The trip started with a bus ride to the Soladad Mountain (an public site). On top of the mountain is a memorial to veterans that surround the cross. Ronald Reagan has a plaque there.
From the mountain you see or miles up and down the coast. It was a beautiful site.
The huge cross can be seen miles. There has been an ongoing attempt to remove the cross from the mountain by some atheists. Since a religious symbol cannot be displayed on public property the mall around the cross was sold to a veterans organization. Hince, the cross still stands.
Notice the huge sign on the side of the bus. It gets a pretty mixed bag of reactions as we travel down the highway.
After a few moments of reflection we loaded the bus and it was off to the San Diego Zoo.
